Two-factor authentication (2FA) adds a second layer of protection to your account: even if someone learns your password, they cannot log in without the rotating code on your device. Enable it early — on both Liquid Edge and your exchange.
On your Liquid Edge account#
- Open Account settings → Security.
- Choose Authenticator app and scan the QR code with an app like Google Authenticator, Authy, or 1Password.
- Enter the 6-digit code to confirm, then save your backup codes somewhere safe and offline. They are the only way back in if you lose your device.
From then on, logging in asks for your password and a fresh code.
On your exchange#
Your exchange account is where your funds actually live, so protect it just as carefully:
- Enable 2FA in your exchange's own security settings.
- Use an authenticator app rather than SMS where possible.
- Store the exchange's backup codes separately from your Liquid Edge ones.
Why this matters#
Liquid Edge holds only trade-only API keys and can never withdraw your funds — but your accounts still control your settings and connections. 2FA keeps that access in your hands alone. For the full picture of what Liquid Edge can and cannot do, see the Security Model.
